We need a change! I'm voting for Legvold, Royle, and Host.

I was not sure I wanted to write anything. After going to the 2/20/25 town meeting, I have decided I should. I saw some papers handed out from the town’s current leaders. Those papers showed lots of spending. This makes me feel uncomfortable.

Supervisor Charlie Anderson said up at the head table that the bridge on Eveleth Ave needs to be replaced and maybe with the things in the federal government right now, getting all those cuts, FEMA funds wouldn’t come to Greenvale to help out with that bridge. He said we needed to put money away for bridge replacements.

When I see this spending these Board people are doing, I think, why are we spending so much money? I wonder aren’t those funds ones that could go to this bridge matter. It doesn’t make sense! They tried to say it was because of inflation, but inflation hasn’t gone up that much to mean all that these people have spent. These papers showed in 2023 the taxes were $46,500 for the General Fund and in 2023 paid out $117,734 of that fund. In 2024 taxes were $50,000 for General Funds. But in 2024 they paid out $236,393 of General Funds.

I am worried about our town’s money. There are good things we need to spend on like roads and bridges, snow plowing, town hall building, tree cutting, those wages for town officials, and so that fire and ambulance people from Northfield can come help when we need it. But, I’m pretty sure the main costs we have in Greenvale right now are those fees to those attorneys for that lawsuit. But no one ever says what benefit all the rest of us will get. That’s not plowing my road in winter and it’s not keeping dust down off my porch. I think there’s an appeal for that lawsuit being done by the Board now even though the Dakota county judge already said NO Greenvale didn’t have a case. Yes, I feel pretty worried.

I think being Supervisor David Roehl’s daughter, Tammy May, will probably do more of the same things – just following those patterns. Peterson has been treasurer for years, and I’d like to see a new person now. I know he’s got to write those checks the Town’s Board spends money on. But I don’t think he’s ever saying words of spending caution – telling them to stop. I never heard it. Maybe he should be. And, Christianson, I don’t know about her – probably a nice person – but I think she will be more like a replacement for David Roehl since he isn’t running again and will go on saying yes to the high spending. I think the candidates are all probably nice.

But I think we need changes and nice is nice, but it doesn’t help stop spending. I am ready for a new set of people who want to get spending back to fair and normal. I’m voting for Legvold, Royle, and Host. I don’t know them, but I read their words. What they say makes sense to me. Keep Greenvale rural and get spending back to control.

I heard I could write. I haven’t done it before but I think enough is enough so I decided to write. I’m just a simple person who wants some common things. I’m tired of being bothered with this spending and don’t know how our future looks as a town with all this spending – higher taxes, I guess. Thanks for this chance to share my thoughts with people.
