What a whirlwind of a campaign! Thanks to all the voters of Greenvale Township who supported the Responsibly Rural campaign.
I had a moment to reflect this weekend, after the gathering at Nick's place on Friday evening (thanks again Nick). There is so much work to do going forward to make our township a more responsible government with structures in place so anyone CAN serve, and a climate where anyone WILL serve (my mission statement going forward as your clerk).
This week Joy Royle and I are attending training from Minnesota Association of Townships and will swear in at 6:30 PM on Thursday, March 20th after we submit all the necessary documents to our current clerk. If you're available that evening, please consider yourself invited to attend!
We will need all the moral support we can muster from our township, but also people who continue to stand up for decency, openness and public servants who are willing to put the community ahead of their own comfort and profit. If you see something that is self-serving or isn't decent, honest, open - summon your courage to speak up and speak out. It will take a township (or village) and it will take continual work to remind those who don't align with the core values we share, to either come on board or step aside. You can count on both Joy and myself to do our best in our jobs starting THURSDAY!!
